SPENCER BREWER & DICK BILLUPS

Spencer Brewer is a DSE (Dangerously Serial Entrepreneur) who creates ‘High Whimsey’ - fantastical pieces of assemblage sculptures out of vintage or unusual objects as well as being a composer, pianist, artist, piano technician and producer. He has produced and engineered hundreds of records while working on over 20,000 pianos and touring as a contemporary concert pianist.

Dick Billups has been a student of electricity, engineering and taking things apart to see how they worked his whole life. His title through many of his electrical incarnations was "Electro Engineering Production Technician". Around 1969 his dad put on a Halloween show which had a talking pumpkin, a theremin with colored lights, a tesla coil and a robot at the door giving out candy. This was way ahead of it's time and Dick was hooked for life. Nicola Tesla was a hero to his dad and himself, thus creating Tesla Man helped fulfill a connection to his Dad, his passion and creativity.

Nikola Tesla

THE MAN. THE MYTH. THE LEGEND.

Nikola Tesla (July 1856- January 1943) was born in Serbia and was the inventor or visionary of AC (Alternating Current Electricity), the X-Ray, the electric motor, fluorescent and neon light bulbs, the vacuum tube, the radio, radar, hydro-electric plants, transistors, directed energy, radio astronomy, remote control, wireless communication and free energy (people shut him down when they couldn’t make a profit). It is amazing that one of the greatest geniuses of all time died penniless and unrecognized by the masses in a NY Hotel Room!

Tesla Man is a sculpture created to honor Nikola Tesla and keep the awareness ofthis great inventor alive. The sculpture took two years to create.
